Vitus Bikes Gravir 29 Suspension Bike

Big country. Big hills. Big wheels. Makes sense, no?

Renamed and revamped for 2013 is our Gravir range of XC/Trail full suspension bikes, built around our custom hydroformed 6061 aluminium frame with 100mm of rear wheel travel delivered via our Vitus V-Link four-bar suspension system; up front we've added a 120mm travel fork for a balanced yet lively suspension package.
For XC race and marathon riders looking for a great spec suspension big-wheeler, the Vitus Gravir 29 features a race-ready components package and the fast-rolling performance benefits of 29” wheels.
At Vitus we say it’s up to you to decide if a 29er is right for your size and your riding style, but many riders claim a smoother, faster ride – especially over uneven surfaces - and a better fit in larger bike sizes.
Brand new for 2013, the Vitus Gravir 29 is brought to you exclusively by Vitus Bikes and Chainreactioncycles.com.
100mm travel V-Link frame and RockShox Recon Gold TK forks
Our lightweight hydroformed multi-butted, heat treated 6061 aluminium frame features 100mm of rear wheel travel via a Four-Bar V-Link activated suspension platform which eliminates pedal bob yet remains fully active at all times. Suspension travel is controlled by a RockShox Monarch RL air shock offering infinite adjustability and silky smooth performance. All pivots run on sealed cartridge bearings providing supple performance with low maintenance. A replaceable derailleur hanger comes as standard.
RockShox Recon Gold TK 29 Solo Air forks offer 120mm of trail-taming air-sprung travel. A tapered steerer and 15mm Maxle Lite thru-axle means precise, positive tracking through rock gardens and rough sections of trail.
    SRAM Groupset
The Gravir 29 features a 20spd SRAM X7/X9 groupset with a SRAM S1400 2x10 chainset delivering slick and precise gear changes in all conditions and a gear ratio that will make short work of any gradient the trail can throw at you.
Avid Elixir 3 hydraulic disc brakes with a 180mm rotor up front and 170mm rotor at the back provide powerful, controllable stopping power ensuring you stay in control at all times.
    Easton Wheelset & Finishing kit
A lightweight Easton EA70 XC wheelset reduces rotational weight for faster acceleration and improved climbing prowess. Large-volume Maxxis tyres offer dependable grip in all conditions inspiring you to push hard into every corner.
A great value components package is rounded out with a mixture of Easton EA50 and Vitus finishing kit for comfort, control and reliability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by You would be hard pushed to get better value After riding a hard tail for many years, I bought this to do the Transhajar marathon race out in Oman this year. Firstly, the service from ChainReaction was amazing, door to door to Muscat in five days. Brilliant! Overall the bike is fantastic and won't disappoint. It has a great smooth ride and offers a huge amount of confidence with the wide bar set-up. The components are great for a bike of this price with air shocks front and back and the 20 twenty speed SRAM drive chain is simply amazing. And for those who doubt the benefits of have a 29'er, you will never look back. The top three men in this years race were all riding full suss 29'ers. Enough said. The only issue with the bike is the position of the bottle cage mount which is unusable as the bottle fowls with the rear suspension??? I always use a 3L Camelbak,so not bothered. If you are looking for a cracking bike at a great price, don't hesitate. Highly recommended. 13 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well done Vitus: another absolute cracker I bought this to replace a much loved but cruelly stolen Vitus Escarpe (26", 140mm travel). Initially I was concerned I wasn't going to love this quite as much - and that the modest travel wasn't going to be enough for forays into Wales. Very wrong. It's not as plush as a longer travel bike (inevitably), but it's a great, and very flattering, bike to ride. The geometry is spot on, and it feels much more 'trail bike' than 'XC'. It's the best bike I've ridden on technical climbs - I cleared a number of sections at Cwm Carn that I've never managed before without dabbing (well, getting off and pushing). When I got to the top I thought the trade off would be on the way down; not at all: it's a fast, confidence-inspiring descender. It'll roll over / through everything I feel comfortable with, and probably more besides. All in all this is a fantastic bike, and truly ridiculous value for money. Flip the stem to lower the bars a tad, stick a sticky Hans Dampf on the front (this not only maximises the grip but also stops the front wheel kicking out, as was happening a little before), and you've got a heroically good bike on your hands; all for a shade over £1,000. Ridiculous. 26 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best bike for the money ever! I ordered this bike in the sale plus an extra 10% off. What an amazing spec bike for £1025. I did have to change a couple of things for my riding style i.e dropper post and wider bars. I found it a good bike for xc work but it makes a greater trail bike. It's eats the red and black runs at Llandegla. 16 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Espectacular!! Tenia un poco de incentidumbre por la compra de esta bici, apenas hay informacion en la red acerca de este modelo pero por precio-componentes y estetica me decidi por ella... Y no puedo estar mas contento, bici una maravilla, es exactamente lo que queria. Bravo Vitus y bravo Chainreaction!! 09 October 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice looking and well assembled bike! Delivered yestarday from CRC here in Italy in 5 working day and the bike unboxed look even better live than in pictures.. Great value for money Easton and sram mounted works perfect for hard XC and also everyday mountain trail. This is my first 29" and after all i feel it very light and responsive with a great flow on singletracks, i love also the geometry of the frame! Great all around 29er Raccomanded!! 22 September 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent I ordered this bike after searching a suitable bike for me to be 29” and full suspension. I wanted to have good entry level bike I can do hard riding. I am enduro racer and do high speed and was concerned does the suspension be enough but it was. The bike in overall feels very good and I like the finish of the bike. I do not have extensive experience on bikes expect motorcycles but this is very stable very well handling one. I think the price I paid for this and the product itself is very good value for money. I also enjoy how the bike looks. The only thing that is very odd for me is the handlebar and I may want to change it. IT is very wide and bend downwards. 17 September 2013

    Frame Size query

I am looking at full suspension mountain bikes for my partner, she is 165cm tall so on paper will fit the 39cm (15.5") Gravir 29er, I cannot see the frame specification for the top tube and I am not completely sure that understand the variations between the women's specific geometry and mens.
Should I be looking at the women's specific bikes?

    thanks in advance.

    Answer:
Usually there aren't any, it's simple marketing hype. If the frame size fits your partners height and inner seam length, it will be fine.
