Vitus Bikes Gravir SS Frame

A frameset fit for The King.

For XC race days and weekend trail sessions; for enduro epics and marathon racing; for all of the above and so much more; the Vitus Gravir is no one trick pony; saddle up and do it all!

The Gravir SS frame is built around our custom hydroformed 6061 aluminium frame with 100mm of rear wheel travel delivered via our Vitus V-Link four-bar suspension system. The tapered headtube at the front offers full compatibility with straight and tapered steerer tube options whilst ISCG05 chainguide tabs offer the option of running a chainguide.

Designed and developed by Vitus Bikes in association with Chainreactioncycles.com, the Gravir is a true all-rounder that enjoys lung-busting climbs and tricky technical XC as much as it does flat-out descents across the open mountainside, making it the perfect FS choice for marathon and XC events, trail-centre tomfoolery or all-day adventure.

100mm travel V-Link frame

Our lightweight hydroformed multi-butted, heat treated 6061 aluminium frame features 100mm of rear wheel travel via a four-bar V-Link activated suspension platform which eliminates pedal bob yet remains fully active at all times. Suspension travel is controlled by a RockShox Monarch RT3 air shock offering infinite adjustability and silky smooth performance. All pivots run on sealed cartridge bearings providing supple performance with low maintenance. A replaceable derailleur hanger comes as standard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great priced frame Brourght this frame to swap bits from hard tail, have run it for a bit now and have had no issues and it's great fun when you jump back on it after alternating from a 29er. It's a bonkers price now, no brainier . Long live the 26. Great fun 01 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by buena calidad precio Un servicio de reparto preciso y de calidad asi como el producto adquirido. 24 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Frame Ordered this frame to build a custom bike. When this frame arrived it was bigger than I thougt. Don't get fooled by the image. The frame is also beatiful to look at. Quality proven for XC and Trail riding. Feels very solid and stiff. It is also very nice that you'll get a free RockShox Monarch RT3 for free. To sum all the above up: Amazing frame, light strong and stiff. If I'll build a bike again, i'll definitely buy this frame again. Amazing! 15 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Frame Ordered this frame when my Giant Anthem X3 unexpectedly cracked at a weld. Was a bit nervous as I'd never heard of Vitus bikes. I shouldn't have worried - first impressions were excellent and the build quality really impressed. I also ordered the CRC recommended Nukeproof headset and the bike built up really easy - no issues at all. Make sure you get good outer gear cables as they are full length and need to be low friction to work well across such a distance. Rode it on a red run for it's first trip and it ran beautifully. Climbed a little better than the Anthem as I think it's slightly lighter. Bottom line - a non-mainstream manufacturer that builds a really nice frame at a fantastic price. 12 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by per me perfetto Ho preso questo telaio per aggiornare la mia hardtail devo dire che per le mie esigenze è perfetto piu leggero di quello che immaginavo rifinito benissimo. dico a tutti ha la serie sterzo coniza quindi o comprate un adattatore se avete 1/8 di forcella o cambiate forcella io ho dovuto adattare ma per me e buonissimo grazie crc 03 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well balanced, nice looking frame Bought this frame for my latest bike build for an xc allround MTB. I must say I'm pleased with the frame so far. This is my first full suspension bike. I thought of upgrading my old hardtail, but the new frame was so nice that I bought all new components. I like black and gray, I don't really fancy bright colors on my bike. The frame was also very cheap in my opinion, so great value for your money indeed. 06 December 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent value frame Bought to upgrade my Hardtail to full suspension this frame hasn't disappointed. It is a very reasonable weight with a well balanced geometry - and comes with the very nice RS Monach RT3 shock. Paintwork is a nice combination (to my eyes at least) of Black, White and Silver, but is a little fragile so I recommend the use of liberal amounts of heli tape/Bikeshield etc. though the actual quality of frame materials seem excellent with nice welding throughout and very subtle frame tube forming. Perhaps the best compliment I can pay this frame is to say that it reminds me very much of my old Specialized FSR XC from 4 or 5 years ago - it just feels right. The only negative I can think of is that CR always seem to drop the price just after I buy something! 20 October 2013

Size of the frame

Is it just me, or is it not stated if this is a 26" or 29" frame? In the size chart I find the measurements for both the Gravir 26" and 29" frame. Which one is this?

Answer:
This is the 26" version; generally speaking a 29er frame or complete bike will always state it's a 29er in the product title or coding (i.e. the complete bikes are listed as a Gravir (26") and a Gravir 29 (29"))

Answer:
The Gravir frame uses the tapered zero stack standard of headset. This is a 44mm top and 56mm bottom cups.

We do have one headset in stock that will allow you to use a straight 1.1/8th steerer of fork. This is shown below.

The Nukeproof headsets are very good and you will find them to be reliable.

What BB and crankset can I take/use?

If I'll take this frame, what BB should I take and what for a crankset?
Because there are may options but I can't figure out wich one suits the frame.
I am going to use SRAM XO components for gearing and a 10 speed SRAM cassette on the rear.
On the front I want a 3 speed.

So I need 3 chainrings, a BB and cranks. Or a whole crankset.
Could you give me some options? (Is the crankset i prefer possible?)

Thanks.

Answer:
This frame is compatible with SRAM/Truvativ GXP, Shimano Hollowtech II, RaceFace X-Type etc. 68/73mm English Threaded Bottom Brackets.

As SRAM is the area of interest, any of the GXP cranksets are compatible. The suggested crankset's below come complete with chainrings and bottom bracket.
