Vitus Bikes Razor Road Bike

Your first introduction to the joys of road cycling; a solid performer which combines light weight, durability and affordability; the new Razor platform will offer unrestricted enjoyment and a comfortable ride. Equally at home on long winter training rides or daily commutes to the office; the Razor combines sharp looks with sharp handling; cast off the shackles and embrace cycling in all of its forms!

Lightweight 6061-T6 Alloy Frame With T700 HM-UD Carbon Fork With Alloy Steerer

The lightweight 6061-T6 alloy frame  has been designed with all year riding and commuting in mind. Up front Vitus have added a T700 HM-UD carbon bladed fork with alloy steerer to reduce road buzz from rough sections of road for increased rider comfort. Also they've added ample clearance for mud guards and added eyelets for ease of fitment on both frame and fork. Additionally included are pannier rack mounts to broaden the bikes capabilities as an all rounder for commuting and social riding. The Vitus comfort geometry offers a more relaxed riding position which translates into increased comfort and reduced rider fatigue, a feature that we have come to appreciate ourselves when making early morning commutes when carrying a bag on our back.

Shimano Claris Drivetrain

Shimano Claris shifters and derailleurs provide flawless gear selections time after time; the driving force at the heart of the drivetrain is a Shimano Claris compact chainset with 50t x 34t rings; this is paired up with an 11t-28t cassette to offer a wider range of gears. Tektro R315 dual pivot long reach brakes offer dependable braking performance.

Vitus Wheelset & Finishing Kit

The Vitus wheelset features semi-aero rims which are laced onto lightweight alloy hubs. The rims have a 30mm V profile for improved aerodynamics and reduced drag whilst a CNC machined braking surface ensures consistent braking performance. High volume Kenda 25c tyres offer added comfort and a larger contact patch for improved grip. Vitus finishing kit completes the components package. The alloy bars, stem and seatpost provide a lightweight and dependable components package which have been colour coded to match the frame decals.

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by My first road bike I wanted to start getting some serious mileage from cycling so I started to research road bikes and in particular entry bikes. I found that the pricing went up in so many increments that if you had the money you could easily spend thousands. I initially looked up the Halfords Carrera bikes as the seemed to be the cheapest, although they had some many value parts I knew maintenance would be an issue. It wasn't an easy choice picking this bike as at the time of purchase three months ago there was only one review on the whole internet and a lot of people say you should physically see and ride a bike first. I used road.cc best budget bikes to decide which one was right for me and they were giving it a lot of praise with a £449 price tag! Another worry I had was although the brand of this bike had been used by champions it is now owned by CRC themselves so it is like the Halfords Carrera equivalent but being an online company reduces overheads thus they can give us profits while maintaining profit margins, WIN. This bike is amazingly light, you usually would have to spend £700+ to start seeing bikes under 10kg. A good ride (put the seat up for a more comfortable ride advice if you're a mountain biker) with carbon forks and strong frame, I have rode 700miles to date and the gears and breaks are just as good as the day it came which needed no adjustment at all. One thing to look out for is if you are buying replacement tubes, make sure they are 60mm valves as 40mm are not long enough due to the semi-aero wheels. I was told I would have a lot of punctures on a road bike but to date I have had only one, probably due to the great tyres (rrp £22ea), luck and quality tubes. The Claris shifters are very smooth and lovely to use once you get used to them, in my opinion there is no need to spend more to get the Sora shifters. I have yet to see anything wrong with this bike. P.S CRC customer services are every good with dealing with any queries or questions you have. I had not used them before buying this bike so was pleasantly surprised with their efforts. BUY THIS BIKE 05 September 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Très bon vélo, je le recommande Très bon achat, vélo de qualité, conditionnement parfait. 02 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great value road bike for beginners Can't fault this so far, quick delivery and ready to go from the box... some minor adjustments required on the gears however but since then this machine has quickly and reliably conveyed me to and from work for the last few months. I'm enjoying it so much I've begun training for a sportive later this year. Considering the low cost, the components are decent enough and the build is good. 13 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic, best bike I've bought for the money The best bike I've ever bought, out of a Specialized Demo, a Hardrock and this. It's phenomenal for the money and can't be beaten. It's very light, the brakes are good, the gears are good, although if you've got strong legs you may spin out. The carbon fork offers great ride quality over the bumps. The tyres are decent in fact they retail for £23 each, which on a bike of this price is great. I can't fault it in any way. It looks great too. Every time I ride it (which is twice a day) I can't believe how little I paid for it. A fantastic bike, don't wait for a proper bike magazine review just get it. 12 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Entry Level Bike Bought this as a transition from my mountain bike to road bike. Excellent quality, great looks and all around great entry level bike. Great service again from CRC and quick delivery to the South of Ireland. Awesome little accessory bag that included pedals, pedal spanner, toolkit, reflectors and some nutritional items which was a nice little touch. The only downside I would say is the gear shifting. Some sporadic slipping of gears so probably will need to get it double checked in my local bike shop but other than that I'm really happy with the product and I'm looking forward to racking up serious miles on this. 26 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Value for money Bought as a starter road bike for my gf. Fast delivery 3 working days to south of ireland. Well packed with multitool, spanner plastic pedals and goody bag thrown in. We are both new to road bikes but the components seem like great quality, gear shifts are very smooth. Big change up from her hybrid in terms of pace. Well pleased with this, feels like a very good purchase. 21 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by great value for money You get a lot for your money with this bike. I looked at many bikes comparing spec and cost before I found this one, it's a no brainer at this price. 06 July 2014

Answer:
If a bike does not list specific pedals on the description then it is not supplied with any as standard by the manufacturer. This is primarily due to the fact that the manufacturer of the bike doesn't know which pedal style you prefer, and partly because many riders will transplant their pedals from an earlier bike.

However, our bikes are all supplied with a set of flat black pedals in the box to help get you up and running. This allows you to get out on the bike while deciding which aftermarket pedals to go for.

How much set up is required for this bike?

Apart from pedals and adjusting handlebar is there any other set-up required i.e. handlebar tape needing to be attached or is everything set-up and checked prior to despatch?

Many thanks,

Answer:
When mine arrived, I just had to bolt the handlebars in place, adjust the saddle height and fit pedals. I imagine for a bigger frame size (mine is quite small at 50cm) you may also have to fit the front wheel. All of this is relatively easy, and all the necessary tools are supplied.

This bike undergoes a PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection); so that all that is required when the bike arrives with you is to turn the bars, tighten the headset and fit the front wheel.

Answer:
Everything is set up apart from the handlebars and pedals. Alley keys provide to fit the handle bars in a couple minutes and a pedal tool is provided, just make sure you alternate the pedals screwing them in as the threads are different between right and left.

Its just that I love perfectly flat top frame in terms of it shape I know this is not perfectly flat but I can't seem to tell whether it is completely circular either. I am really not a fan of a completely circular top frame that's why I would love to know whether there is any shape to the top part of connecting the seat post area to the front vertical tube. Thank you so much :)

Answer:
The Top Tube is completely circular in cross section (or at least, very close to circular). There is no 'flatness' to it. This is true of most bikes (even top-end racers) since the sectional shape of the top tube makes very little difference to the stiffness or aerodynamics of a bike frame.

I am thinking of one of these for a commuter/winter bike; would the frame accept larger tyres e.g. 28mm. Or what would be the max tyre size it could take be?

Thanks

Answer:
Yes, the Razor can run a 28c tyre without any problem. I wouldn't go much beyond this; a 30 or 32c tyre may cause a few mud clearance issues around the brakes and rear triangle.
