Vitus Bikes Razor Road Bike

Your first introduction to the joys of road cycling; a solid performer which combines light weight, durability and affordability; the new Razor platform will offer unrestricted enjoyment and a comfortable ride. Equally at home on long winter training rides or daily commutes to the office; the Razor combines sharp looks with sharp handling; cast off the shackles and embrace cycling in all of its forms!

Lightweight 6061-T6 Alloy Frame With T700 HM-UD Carbon Fork With Alloy Steerer

The lightweight 6061-T6 alloy frame  has been designed with all year riding and commuting in mind. Up front Vitus have added a T700 HM-UD carbon bladed fork with alloy steerer to reduce road buzz from rough sections of road for increased rider comfort. Also they've added ample clearance for mud guards and added eyelets for ease of fitment on both frame and fork. Additionally included are pannier rack mounts to broaden the bikes capabilities as an all rounder for commuting and social riding. The Vitus comfort geometry offers a more relaxed riding position which translates into increased comfort and reduced rider fatigue, a feature that we have come to appreciate ourselves when making early morning commutes when carrying a bag on our back.

Shimano Claris Drivetrain

Shimano Claris shifters and derailleurs provide flawless gear selections time after time; the driving force at the heart of the drivetrain is a Shimano Claris compact chainset with 50t x 34t rings; this is paired up with an 11t-28t cassette to offer a wider range of gears. Tektro R315 dual pivot long reach brakes offer dependable braking performance.

Vitus Wheelset & Finishing Kit

The Vitus wheelset features semi-aero rims which are laced onto lightweight alloy hubs. The rims have a 30mm V profile for improved aerodynamics and reduced drag whilst a CNC machined braking surface ensures consistent braking performance. High volume Kenda 25c tyres offer added comfort and a larger contact patch for improved grip. Vitus finishing kit completes the components package. The alloy bars, stem and seatpost provide a lightweight and dependable components package which have been colour coded to match the frame decals.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by great value for money You get a lot for your money with this bike. I looked at many bikes comparing spec and cost before I found this one, it's a no brainer at this price. 06 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent bike, Great price For my first road bike, I wasn't wanting to spend huge amounts of money, but still wanted a reasonable bike, so the Vitus Razor seemed to fit the bill. Well, I have done over 700 miles on this bike already and everything works great. It arrived very quickly with only the handle bars to straighten and with loads of extras as per the previous reviews. The gears were all set up perfectly and have not needed any adjustment so far. The 11-28 rear combined with the 50-34 front give an excellent range from high speed on downhills to tough steep hills. The brakes are way better than anything I have had before, so no problems in stopping either. It also has all the eyelets for fitting mudguards. Have not done this yet, but may look into this for the winter. Would highly recommend this for a first road bike. 03 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Soberbia bicicleta para principiantes Bicicleta espectacular para los principiantes. Va fenomenal, es barata y además es bonita. Un escándalo. 03 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great bike, great service, great price. I've been planning to write a review for a while and now that i've got round to it BigTom4 has almost mirrored what i was going to say. I have been planning to buy a new road bike for a while. My old peugeot was a bit passed it! My father in law recently purchased a Vitus Zenium and couldn't fault the Vitus brand, so off i went to the Doagh store to have a look in person. The staff there were excellent. They couldn't have been more helpful. I knew the Razor was the bike for me by the price but it looks so much better than i imagined. Buying from the store ment the bike was completely set up with pedals fitted and i got a run down of how to adjust and operate everything on the bike. I also got the goodie bag with all the bits in BigTom4's review. I've not done massive miles as yet but the bike is good. The brakes are far better than i was expecting and everything else has exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this bike to anyone looking to get into cycling. Great bike, great service, great price! 02 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Quality Bike at Bargain Price! Admittedly this is my first ever road bike, so I don't have a lot to compare this bike to. Equally I haven't given it a particularly thorough test; about 40 miles so far. That said, I am a very keen cyclist, having been an avid mountain biker for 10+ years now. I shopped around for a while looking for my first road bike, after making the decision to move to 'the dark side'! I was surprised when I visited several shops, that the kind of bike I was after cost much more than I’d hoped, so I quickly resigned myself to the fact I may have to buy second-hand. However, once again CRC came to my rescue - I come back again and again to this site, buying all my mountain bike gear from here, but I was slightly hesitant about purchasing a whole bike online. I needn't have been - the bike arrived safely in 4 working days in a huge box with lots of foam padding where necessary. I was amazed to find the only thing that needed doing was to fit the handlebars and pedals, and everything else was perfectly setup and ready to go! I didn't even need to fit the wheels! The bike comes with a long list that shows what the CRC technicians have checked, so I was assured the bike had been set up safely, and sure enough - everything is still running perfectly. Amazingly, CRC also provided all these extras for free!: - Bottle of colour-matched touch-up paint - Quality pedal spanner - Multi-tool - 6 allen keys - Water bottle - String bag - 40 sports drink tablets - Full reflector kit - Bell - Reach adjustment rubber spacers for the brake levers (annoyingly one of these must have fallen off on a ride already) - Clear frame protection stickers - Cable-ends I love the ergonomically designed STI levers which make shifting and braking very easy, precise and positive, whilst the light weight and stiff frame mean you can accelerate easily when you want to. The tyres also seem good and sticky too. In fact, every component of the bike is finished to a very high standard, considering most of it is ‘entry level’ gear. It also fits me very well - I'm 5'4" and followed the advice I read online and opted for a 50cm frame. I find the road riding position a little uncomfortable to get used to, but I should hopefully adjust to it. All in all, I simply cannot believe that I can get a ‘sub-10kg’ bike of such good quality, professionally set up and posted to my door for this price. I am very pleasantly surprised by Vitus and CRC have surpassed themselves once again. 28 May 2014

Answer:
If a bike does not list specific pedals on the description then it is not supplied with any as standard by the manufacturer. This is primarily due to the fact that the manufacturer of the bike doesn't know which pedal style you prefer, and partly because many riders will transplant their pedals from an earlier bike.

However, our bikes are all supplied with a set of flat black pedals in the box to help get you up and running. This allows you to get out on the bike while deciding which aftermarket pedals to go for.

How much set up is required for this bike?

Apart from pedals and adjusting handlebar is there any other set-up required i.e. handlebar tape needing to be attached or is everything set-up and checked prior to despatch?

Many thanks,

Duncan

Answer:
When mine arrived, I just had to bolt the handlebars in place, adjust the saddle height and fit pedals. I imagine for a bigger frame size (mine is quite small at 50cm) you may also have to fit the front wheel. All of this is relatively easy, and all the necessary tools are supplied.

Answer:
This bike undergoes a PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection); so that all that is required when the bike arrives with you is to turn the bars, tighten the headset and fit the front wheel.

Its just that I love perfectly flat top frame in terms of it shape I know this is not perfectly flat but I can't seem to tell whether it is completely circular either. I am really not a fan of a completely circular top frame that's why I would love to know whether there is any shape to the top part of connecting the seat post area to the front vertical tube. Thank you so much :)

Answer:
The Top Tube is completely circular in cross section (or at least, very close to circular). There is no 'flatness' to it. This is true of most bikes (even top-end racers) since the sectional shape of the top tube makes very little difference to the stiffness or aerodynamics of a bike frame.

I am thinking of one of these for a commuter/winter bike; would the frame accept larger tyres e.g. 28mm. Or what would be the max tyre size it could take be?

Thanks

Answer:
Yes, the Razor can run a 28c tyre without any problem. I wouldn't go much beyond this; a 30 or 32c tyre may cause a few mud clearance issues around the brakes and rear triangle.
