Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great bike, great value I've had one of these for two years - like others, my expensive full suss MTB isn't suitable for the daily commute. I do 40 miles per week (about 4miles each way) and have now racked up over 2,000 miles of trouble-free riding. For the price what more do you need? Good quality build and great handling bike. Only changes have been due to wear and tear. New v-brakes ordered and new handlebar and stem on the way (bent bar after a fairly serious crash - my fault). There's a bit of a knocking sound coming from either the hub or the bottom bracket but I'd say a quick replacement of either part would sort it. I'm not a great mechanic and not great at taking care of the bike, so don't consider this to be an issue. It's just perfect for what I need. One comment and it's not a negative really - would have gone for the 29er but it wasn't available in 19" when I was buying. 21 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by 12 June 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good but not Perfect This is my Every-Weather City Bike. I've been riding it for half a year now and to describe this thing in one word: solid. Out of the Box i made a few changes. The pedals are trash and i replaced the v-brakes with used magura hs-33 after a while. The v-brakes worked at the beginning but especially during winter i had to readjust them a lot. Now with the changed Pedals and Breaks and Mudguards fitted its almost perfect. Goin to buy some new tires cause i had 4 flats over the last 2 weeks (lots of broken glass in the city...) Overall: Bike great and indestructable thanks to the missing gears and gimmiks. Minus 4 star for the poor breaks/tires and pedals But eh for 300 bucks i would buy it again, worth it! 26 May 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent My old style Cro-Mo mountain bike has finally become too old to keep renovating, and my heavily customised full suspension Trek Fuel 9.0 is way too expensive to leave locked up - so I really wanted something simple, light and fun - something that can handle the commute as well as be a weekend bike - family rides, pub runs etc. The Vitus Vee 1 is PERFECT! It is very light, very controllable - and the single gear makes it feel very direct and responsive. Nothing to go wrong whatsoever - the V brakes are great, the Kenda tyres roll very well - and the finish of the paint and components is excellent. Overall I am very happy - and would certainly buy another Vitus bike in the future. 5-stars. 28 March 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great! Purchased this to ride to work a couple of miles down the canal in Worcester. Brilliant, zero maintenance bike. I have fitted SKS mudguards and a rear rack making it very versatile. I also regularly take it on the train. No worries with locking up in town as no QR's. Wheels are heavy but bombproof. Brakepads were poor so replaced. Tempted to buy the 29er for MTB use. 19 March 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Spot on Commuter I bought this bike to cover the 7 mile round trip on filthy industrial estate roads that I ride on a daily basis to and from work. I have only had it a couple of weeks but thus far it hasn't skipped a beat in atrocious weather. It is light, easily chuck-able and a blast to cut about on, the gearing is hassle free and so is the maintenance. Buy this bike if you have short or flat runs to work and you won't regret it. 21 December 2012

Yes, the 19" would be a very similar geometry and size to the 19" Marin.

Answer:
Ideally you want a mudguard that is a 26 inch size with a with of around 2 inches to give proper coverage. There is many different styles but i will link a couple of options below. I personally would go for the SKS commuter as they are a more solid reliable set.
