Designed by Vitus Bikes and brought to you by Chainreactioncycles.com, all bikes in the Vitus Zircon range feature a lightweight triple-butted 6061-T6 hydroformed aluminium frame and proven components package at a great price.

For newcomers to the sport, the Vitus Zircon III offers 100mm of front suspension travel with lockout mode for city streets or fire-road climbs; high-volume tyres for comfort and grip; powerful mechanical disc brakes for reliable stopping power and a 24-speed SRAM transmission to get you over the steepest ascents and back down the other side.
Built with reliability and versatility in mind, the Zircon III is the perfect bike for off-road forays, commuting duties in the urban jungle or leisurely tow-path trails.

Lightweight frame and 100mm travel RockShox forks
At the heart of the Zircon III is a lightweight, triple-butted, heat treated 6061-T6 aluminium frame with hydroformed tubeset, trail-tuned geometry, replaceable derailleur hanger and excellent upgrade potential. The frame also features internal cable routing to prevent mud and water getting into cable housings - keeping you shifting smoother for longer and keeping your bike out of the shop and out on the trails.

Suspension duties up front are handled by the dependable RockShox XC30 TK coil forks, with 100mm of travel for smooth bump absorption as well as lockout mode for climbing and commuting.

SRAM groupset
The Zircon III features a full 24spd SRAM groupset with X4/X3 shifters and derailleurs and a triple chainset offering a wide selection of gears. Stopping power comes courtesy of Avid BB5 mechanical disc brakes front and rear, with dependable braking even in wet and muddy conditions.

Finishing Kit
A reliable SRAM/Jalco wheelset will make sure you stay rolling while grippy, high-volume Maxxis Advantage tyres keep you firmly planted on the trail or street.

Finally a mix of Easton and Vitus finishing kit round out the Zircon III package - a lightweight and durable bike that’s ready to rip up the trails in your local MTB centre or hunt down hipster fixies on your city commute.

The Vitus Zircon III. Everything you need in a mountain bike. Nothing you don’t.

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by 11 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Foundation I bought this Hardtail in June 13 as an entry level bike. After reading the reviews it was a good place to start to get back into off road mountain biking. The frame is great, and to begin with the components were great too. For the mild trails such as Cannock and Canal Tow Paths they coped well. You soon find yourself progressing and out in woodlands doing single tracks and finding downhill sections and the bug to upgrade the components soon bites. Since June I've upgraded just about everything other than the handlebars and forks, which will be done soon! The SRAM gears / drivetrain soon struggled to remain reliable in tough muddy conditions, with one shifters internals breaking and front mech twisting. These were upgraded with Shimano SLX / XT components. The SRAM Hubs on the Jaco wheels don't like much use / abuse and after soon lost their ability to turn freely, these were upgraded with a Mavic Wheelset and Hubs. The BB5 Mechanical Disc brakes may be fine for the lighter rider, however I'm 100kg plus and they soon burn out on long descents! Not really the brakes fault but these were upgraded with Elixir 5's with 203 rotors. In summary, maybe the use of the bike is beyond the expectation of this sub £500 setup. However it is a brillant base to upgrade and improve as your riding does. Friends have spend 3,4,5 times as much on their bikes and I still have just as much fun as they do. Plus buying the upgrades and improving as you go means the parts can always be swapped onto the next frame! I'd recommend if you're looking for a robust frame, and light trail components, or a good base to make a more rugged setup! 12 November 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by awesome bike so value for money... you cant get a bike that's better equipped with the rock shox forks. frame is solid & shape of the frame is really nice. only thing i can say is the seat is uncomfortable but i think thats with most bike seats. but am well happy with it, best buy this year for me. 04 September 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great value for the money and a great base to upgrade on! The short story is that this bike overall has great quality for its price and will serve as a suitable base to upgrade upon later. Frame: The frame is rock solid, the welds are well done and riding it on the trails, you feel little if any frame flexing. I am a heavy rider too, and the frame definitely felt stronger than some other bikes I've tried. The graphics work is very well done as well. Front Fork: The RockShox XC30TK fork is a great entry level coil fork. From various research I've done, I found that it's very rare to find RockShock forks at this price level. Usually you'll find SR Suntour XCT's or comparable forks. The 100mm travel of the XC30TK is perfect for mild trails and even copes with tree roots and ruts in some rougher trails. The rebound is adjustable as well. The fork is supplied with a Medium spring and a lockout option although a handlebar mounted lockout lever will need to be sourced separately. Drivetrain: The SRAM drivetrain is a good choice for general trail riding, the granny gear will definitely help in steep climbs and the highest gear ratio provides for some speed. Although the components here are not the top end (this is reflected by the price), the drivetrain works flawlessly once properly set up with smooth shifts all across the gear ranges. Those used to Shimano style shifters will find the SRAM trigger system a little awkward at first as the thumbs are used to operate both the up and downshifts. This is contrary to Shimano whereby the index finger controls the upshifts. The SRAM system keeps your index fingers on the brakes though which leaves you in control of all the bike systems. Brakes: The bike comes fitted with Avid BB5 mechanical disc brakes with 160mm rotors on both the front and rear. Organic brake pads come as standard and provided they are bedded in correctly they provide adequate stopping power in dry conditions. However, rides who frequent wet and muddy conditions or heavier riders may wish to upgrade to sintered brake pads to improve stopping power. Riders may upgrade further and install 180mm rotors in the front (and possibly rear). For most riders though, the current setup will be perfect. Wheels: The Maxxis Advantage tires provide really good grip and the Jalco rims feel very sturdy. For the target audience, there are no complaints for the wheels. General: The other components of the bikes are of very high quality and the bike is very well put together when you receive it. At its stock state the bike is perfect for the beginning mountain rider or the weekend track warrior and has all good value components. As the rider progresses, the frame provides a sturdy base to begin making upgrades to suit their individual needs. You'll definitely grow to love the Vitus Zircon III. 23 August 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A+ Brilliant bike for value Would recommend this bike to any mtb enthusiast. Great bike for the value and couldnt fault it. Very speedy delivery. The rockshox forks have good rebound and pleanty of travel. The sram gears never miss a beat and select gear with ease, maxxis tyres are very grippy in all terrain and a perfect size. Very happy customer. Thanks chain reaction cycles 12 June 2013

Answer:
Our bikes do not come with pedals which enables the customer to custom select which style they require.

Fitting pedals is a simple process of threading them onto the crankarms which can be done when the bike arrives.

Answer:
Bike size is best judged by inside leg length; I have attached a quick guide below for your reference. You can opt for a smaller frame if you wish, but be wary as the shorter top tube may cause your riding position to be too cramped.
