Rated 4 out of 5 by Отличный набор для ремонта в домашних условиях! Отличный набор для ремонта в домашних условиях! Качество так себе,но за эти деньги вполне устраивает! 10 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Все есть для ремонта велика. Отличный комплект. Но качество желает лучшего. Но вполне с этой сумкой можно с легкостью разобрать и собрать велосипед или мотобайк 02 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for a Novice! I have a 2003 Giant Rincon that desperately needs some TLC. Rather than pay my lbs more than the bike cost to service it, I decided that I could probably do it my self. I ordered this kit, because most reviews seem good, and I didn't want to spend a lot, as I really don't know what I'm doing. The kit arrived in Australia four days after I ordered it. All of the tools fit snuggly into the case. They seem great quality for a recreational rider like myself. Everything works perfectly. They only trouble I had was user error. I don't have any experience with other tools to reference, but I can 100% recommend this kit, especially at the sale price! 31 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth every dollar. Good quality tools. Chain Reaction services are great. I recommend it. 29 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Base Toolkit` Pretty much has everything you need to get you out of a tight spot! Pretty good quality ! 23 August 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great tools for everyday use! Received my product 3-4 days after i placed my order and was impressed with the efficiency. Opened up the toolbox to see that a few of the tools wasn't secured properly and a few tools are oily. But overall, quality looks good and consist of the necessary tools to carry out basic maintenance. 21 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good value I can't say much about the toolset. The quality is reasonable, contains most of the stuff that a normal home mechanic would require and it does the job while being a good value. Full stop! 20 August 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value.. Does the job. Has almost everything for basic bicycle maintenance. Just needed to buy chain closing link tool and cable cutter. 17 August 2014

Hi,

I had an issue with the tip of the crank extractor tool being too wide for the square taper bb insert to push it out. I forced off the the black tip of the tool (see photo), but even at that it scraped the metal on the inside of the crank from being too wide.

The x-tools part is on the right in the picture, with another tool crank tool on the left.

Is this tool supposed to work with all cranks/bottom brackets?

Answer:
Jonathan

the crank extractor tool is different from the tool for square taper BB.

You can't extract a BB with this tool. You extract the crankarms. Then with the correct tool you unscrew the BB and remove it.

Answer:
I forced off the tip already and as I stated it scraped the square tapered holes of the crank because it was marginally too wide for the holes (i had file it down afterwards to put the cranks back on again) . I also damaged the threads of the crank arm because rather than the top part fully extending into the square tapered holes of the crank and push it off the bottom bracket, it just pushed itself out of the crank threads damaging the threading.

So im trying to figure out the spec of the part, was it designed to work with all cranks/bottom bracket designs? e.g. square taper, octolink etc

Answer:
Hi Jonathon,
If I am reading your post correctly, then all you need to do is pull the tip out. It is sitting in there in a similar manner to a socket sits on a wrench, with a small ball bearing and groove. If you give it a good pull (possibly with pliers or multi grips if it's tough) you should then be able to use the tool as you'd like.

Answer:
In the original question I stated that I already removed this tip from the top and it is not sufficient - "forced off the the black tip of the tool (see photo), but even at that it scraped the metal on the inside of the crank from being too wide."

In my second post I stated that with the tip removed it resulted in damaging the "threads of the crank arm because rather than the top part fully extending into the square tapered holes of the crank and push it off the bottom bracket, it just pushed itself out of the crank threads damaging the threading."

So I cant really call it universal when it had this effect on my drive side crank. You can see the differences in the width of the top section from the photo I attached (the tip is not removed in the photo but when it is removed, it is still wider by a few mm than the other crank extractor tool which works perfectly.

Answer:
This crank extractor is universal. As WillG said you can pull top of it, and it will separate it from the main tool so you would be able to use it with square crankset.

Answer:
There's nothing specific in the kit, but it depends on the brake and bleed port in question; some run M10 bolts, some are as small as 6mm and some use Allen key fittings. An adjustable wrench or small pack of precision spanners would likely cover most systems.
