Zipp SL 145 Carbon Stem 2011

The SL145 stem is a perfect example of the determination that our engineers display when faced with a challenge. It requires 50 sections of hand-wrapped carbon cloth, titanium bolts sourced from the same Italian producer used by Ducati's MotoGP racing program, and a stainless steel insert within the anodized black faceplate. The SL145 was not easy to design and it’s not easy to produce. But the result is the stiffest, strongest all-carbon stem available – as verified by EFBe Laboratory. The SL145 is a rock-solid connection from bars to bike that weighs just 135g (100mm). It’s available in lengths from 80mm to 130mm. /- 12.5 degree angle and 31.8mm clamp.

Zipp SL 145 Carbon Stem Features:

  • Weight (100mm) 135g
  • Clamp Diameter 31.8mm
  • Angle +/- 12.5
  • Steer tube diameter 1 1/8 inch with 1 inch reducer shim
  • Stack height 40mm
  • Clamp width 47mm
  • Clamp torque 6Nm

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bought a few of these for the odd commute to work on the ol' road bike. Pretty light, and compliments my steel frame from the good ol' year of 1987. Hasn't failed me yet. 22 March 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by The design of this stem is super but the box does not contain the headset cap as shown in the picture. I bought it in the price of 164eu which is good. Cannot wait to instal it. 02 October 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by I purchased this stem recently however after a couple of rides I noticed what appeared to me big cracks in the stem. The crack lines are beneath the finish so one cannot feel it. I am told my by bike store that the cracks are normal as the stem is uni directional carbon fibre. Looks awful. Other negative, the stem is so side it make mounting my garmin edge 800 impossible - I found a solution with a mount supplied by Barfly in the USA - it carries the edge 800 forward of the stem on a garmin style mount. 24 June 2012
