A-Lock Engineering

At the heart of the S9 bib shorts is Assos' A-Lock Engineering. Using a combination of new construction methods and materials, Assos' engineers have managed to create a short where the seat insert remains perfectly positioned. They start with Type.441 textile, a silky smooth fabric which boasts incredible moisture management, anti-odour and long term durability - all-in-all, a perfect cycling fabric. 

Butterfly Engineering

An innovative panel design creates an incredibly stable platform for the seat insert. Where their S7 shorts use four panels, the S9s reduce this to just two, lessening bulk, reducing seams and hence increasing comfort. The two panels form a unique 'butterfly' shape, wrapping around the legs snugly to form what Assos have named their ergoBox structure. It is this which keeps the seat insert perfectly positioned, whether you're in the saddle, out of the saddle, sprinting or climbing. 

rollBar Bib Design

Assos have also completely redesigned the bib straps on the S9. Just like an anti-sway bar on a car, the new rollBar design provides stability. The straps pass over the rear of the shorts and attach directly into the same seam as the seat insert, maintaining the perfect degree of tension as you transfer weight in and out of the saddle. 

The bib straps themselves are made with highly elastic materials, a single Y-frame piece in the back creating the ideal level of support for the shorts while exerting minimal pressure. Meanwhile, the front of the shorts uses an antibacterial carbon weave, wicking away moisture incredibly quickly for intense comfort. These are bib shorts you'll barely realise are there.

The RS Equipe Seat Pad delivers the comfort you need to concentrate on your performance. A super-soft antibacterial microfibre offers a luxurious feel against the skin while kraterCooler holes ensure excellent ventilation, preventing sweat build-up and promoting freshness. A combination of 3D three-layer perforated waffle foam and superAir microShock memory foam core work together to give support to your sit bones and quick adaption to your body position whenever you shift weight or move in and out of the saddle.
