If you're fed up with having to pull on overshoes every time cold and wet weather arrives, and still suffer cold feet, then the Extreme R GTX Road Shoes are a fabulous investment. Locking in warmth and shrugging off wind, rain and snow is the Gore-Tex® Duratherm Kelvin membrane. This uses hollow-core fibres to give your feet superb insulation from the cold, with Northwave rating it's effectiveness to -15 degrees Celcius. 

Wet weather protection is enhanced further by the flexible Easyfit Climaflex collar. This features a Gore-Tex Rattler® membrane to prevent water seeping inside but still allows for smooth unrestricted pedalling. Lastly, the four-layer aluminium and fleece construction of the Arctic 4layer insole provides outstanding insulation, complementing the Duratherm Kelvin membrane perfectly. 

Efficient Winter Pedalling

It's not just about weather protection though. Pedalling performance isn't overlooked either. Just like the summer version of this shoe, the Extreme R GTX winter shoes get the stiff and efficient Morph Carbon 12 AAS sole unit. A full-carbon insert at the pedal area imparts outstanding support for a stable pedalling platform while the stiffness rating of 12 out of 15 guarantees direct and positive power transfer, just what you need when building winter miles. 

XFrame ® Excellence

When it comes to long-ride comfort there's little that matches the snug-fitting XFrame® upper. This innovative design holds the foot firmly in place but does so without creating pressure points. The system is closed via Northwave's own SLW2 ratchet system, allowing precise customisation of the fit, even on the move, as well as an easy release at the end of a tough winter ride. 

Cleat Guidance

These Road Shoes are compatible with road bike pedal systems that use cleats with 3-bolt standards, such as: Look Delta and Keo, Shimano SPD-SL, Speedplay Light Action, Zero, X-Series (via 3-hole adapter plate), Campagnolo Pro-Fit, Mavic Zxellium, Time Iclic/Xpresso and Time Impact.
