Ready for fast and fun MTB adventures, this groupset offers incredibly smooth gearing and precise operation on your mountain bike. It delivers similar performance to the top-tier Box One without the costly features. You still get the Tri-Pack (TM) Clutch in the rear mech only it isn't adjustable. The cassette's 11-50T range is equally impressive and the action on the shifter is just as snappy although you don't get the rigid die-cast pull lever. Completing this groupset is its high-quality chain, which boasts impressive torque power and speed as you explore the trails on your mountain bike.
The Box Two shifter is the only shifter on the market (other than our Box One) that comes factory stock with a hinged clamp. Box Two is our performance tier so this shifter still maintains the durable cast aluminium top shell but trades out the Box One's 1-piece pull-lever for a 2-piece resin and steel variant. All Prime 9 shifters take advantage of the 9-speed's inherent durability, simplicity, and reliability. Not only is the shifter mechanism joyfully simplified, but fewer shifts are needed for every mile of travel. And the best part is? Prime 9 is also terribly forgiving so you won't have to constantly adjust your set-up.
The Box Two Prime 9 Rear Derailleur is very similar to the Box One version however, to be more wallet-friendly, it offers a non-adjustable Tri-Pack™ Clutch, bushing pulleys, and some muted finishes. Box Two rear derailleurs are still optimized for 11-50t cassettes and offer durability and performance for the most demanding terrain, just at a lower price!
The Box Two cassette was where Prime 9 started. Originally conceived as an E-MTB product to deliver long service life and extra range over fewer gears, we quickly grew to enjoy its abilities on unpowered MTBs. All cogs are stamped from steel and subsequently, the larger ones are pinned to alloy spiders. Due to its provenance, this is, without doubt, the most durable cassette in the range.
The Box Two chain's nickel plating adds both corrosion and wear-resistance. All Prime 9 chains have chamfered shifting edges, solid plates and solid pins to safeguard durability. Our unique inner link spacing is engineered to grab those modern wide/narrow chainrings. We chose to modernize the 9-speed platform due to the chain's spirited reputation.
Does the Box Two Prime 9 Shifter come with a cable? Yes. All Box Two Twin Lever Shifters come with a stainless steel shift cable.
How do I remove the cap from the cable port to install a new cable? To remove it, use a Phillips head screwdriver and turn it counter-clockwise a quarter turn You can then push the cap out by applying pressure to the cable from the other side. Please Note: The Cable Port is not a screw that un-threads from the cable port, if you turn the cable port screw more than 90 degrees damage may occur.
