If you're fed up with having to pull on overshoes every time cold and wet weather arrives, and still suffer cold feet, then the Extreme XC GTX MTB Shoes are a fabulous investment for your off-road escapades. Locking in warmth and shrugging off wind, rain and snow is the Gore-Tex® Duratherm Kelvin membrane. This uses hollow-core fibres to give your feet superb insulation from the cold, with Northwave rating it's effectiveness down to -15 degrees Celcius.

Wet weather protection is enhanced further by the flexible Easyfit Climaflex collar. This features a Gore-Tex Rattler® membrane to prevent water seeping inside but still allows for smooth unrestricted pedalling. Lastly, the four-layer aluminium and fleece construction of the Arctic 4layer insole provides outstanding insulation, complementing the Duratherm Kelvin membrane perfectly.

Efficient Winter Pedalling

While enjoying fabulous comfort you'll also enjoy superb pedalling efficiency too. The stiff Speedlight 3D Carbon sole unit is taken from the high-performance summer MTB shoe. And with A full-carbon insert at the pedal area, you can be confident of instantaneous acceleration and a supportive platform for smooth pedalling. The unit is rated 12 out of 15 on Northwave's stiffness index, meaning there is also built-in flex to soak up vibrations from rougher trails.

XFrame ® Excellence

When it comes to long-ride comfort there's little that matches the snug-fitting XFrame® upper. This innovative design holds the foot firmly in place but does so without creating pressure points. The system is closed via Northwave's own SLW2 ratchet system, allowing precise customisation of the fit, even on the move, as well as an easy release at the end of a tough winter ride.

These MTB shoes are compatible with MTB pedal systems, which use cleats with SPD standard (2-bolt standard), e.g.: Shimano SPD, Time ATAC, CrankBrothers, CrankBrothers Race, Look MTB, Xtreme MTB, Wellgo MTB, Ritchey MTB.
