Over the summer months, as the trails dry out and your speed picks up, lighter, faster rolling tyres designed to handle the dry, loose conditions could be just the ticket to faster times on the clock and maximum enjoyment on your bike.
Whether you're blasting trails, grinding out XC loops or all-day epics in the mountains, choosing a good set of summer tyres will always involve a compromise between grip and durability. Finding the right balance will depend entirely on your style of riding and the type of terrain you ride. Generally, harder compound tyres carry more speed and last much longer in dry conditions than softer compound tyres, which offer better grip.
Here are some of our favourite summer MTB tyres from Schwalbe and Maxxis.
